সেই সময়ে কয়েকজন ইহুদী ওঝা ঘুরে বেড়াত, যাঁরা অশুচি আত্মায় পাওয়া লোকদের ছাড়াতো৷ ইহুদী মহাযাজক শীভার সাত ছেলেও এই কাজ করছিল৷ এই ইহুদীরা লোকদের মধ্য থেকে অশুচি আত্মা তাড়াতে প্রভু যীশুর নাম ব্যবহার করত৷ তারা বলত, ‘য়ে যীশুর কথা পৌল প্রচার করছেন, সেই যীশুর নামে আমি আদেশ করছি এর মধ্য থেকে বের হয়ে যাও!’

Some Jews also were traveling around forcing evil spirits out of people. The seven sons of Sceva were doing this. (Sceva was one of the leading priests.) These Jews tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus to make the evil spirits go out of people. They all said, "By the same Jesus that Paul talks about, I order you to come out!"
