শৌল বললেন, “কেন তুমি আর য়িশযের পুত্র আমার বিরুদ্ধে গোপনে চক্রান্ত করছ? তুমি দায়ূদকে রুটি দিয়েছিলে| শুধু তাম্প নয়, একা তরবারিও দিয়েছিলে| তুমি তার হয়ে ঈশ্বরের কাছে প্রার্থনা করেছিলে| আর এখন দায়ূদ আমাকে আক্রমণ করার জন্যে সময় গুনছে!”

And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

"Why have you and the son of Jesse conspired against me?" Saul demanded. "Why did you give him food and a sword? Why have you consulted God for him? Why have you encouraged him to kill me, as he is trying to do this very day?"

Saul said to him, "Why have you conspired against me, you and this son of Jesse? You gave him bread and a sword and inquired of God on his behalf, so that he opposes me and waits in ambush, as is the case today!"

Saul said to him, "Why did you and Jesse's son make secret plans against me? You gave David bread and a sword. You prayed to God for him. And right now, David is waiting to attack me."
